Just as we take care of ourselves, eat the right things, and stay in shape, the same basic concepts apply to keeping our cars in optimal condition.
Digging up savings to pay for car repairs is always painful and even harder with how the economy works. But, to make sure we keep the cost of our car (probably your most important asset) and repair costs low, here are a few simple, easy-to-remember tips to keep your car in tip-top condition.
1. Oil
Oil is the blood of your car, and without it, the car is not going away or quietly. Show your mechanic how to properly check your oil, and change the oil every 3,000 – 3,500 miles. Although oil manufacturers claim that their oil can last 10,000 miles, it is best to use the same oil over 5,000 miles to increase engine reliability and efficiency in the long run. Check the oil regularly, about once a week, and change the oil or change it when you reach the 4,000 – 4,500 miles (6,400 – 7,200 kilometers) range.
2. Maintain brakes, belts, and batteries
Nowadays, the braking systems of the modern vehicles are designed such a way so that it can be replaced periodically to maintain maximum braking efficiency. If you notice a problem with the brakes, check your car’s brakes immediately. If the brakes fail, you could have a very serious crash.

A repair delay triggers irreparable damage to the car. And can be a painfully more expensive solution. And verify the cost of repairs before taking your car to the store to ensure a fair price for upcoming repairs or maintenance.
4. Always use reputable mechanics

Simple things like washing your car, waxing regularly, and making sure to take care of dents and dings will save you the value of your car better and prevent long-term problems like rust and discoloration.
6. Keep the interior clean
Clean and vacuum the interior if necessary. The interior is often a point of sale of electricity when it comes time to trade or sell cars. There are many people don’t think about oil or tires, if the CD player doesn’t work, or the interior looks a little dirty, the deal is off. It has been said that the price of the car has been kept in the cabin and that statement is true. If you ever want to trade or sell a car, every quarter spent on a pay vacuum will be refunded to you with interest!
7. Use the right tire with the right bulge
Make sure they are properly inflated at the manufacturer’s specified pressure. Using tire gauges will be an ideal option as they are both cheap and easy to use. Tires should be replaced when trade wear indicators show up in the run. Ask your local tire dealer if you are not sure how to identify wear indicators. Check your tires for stress and wear or damage every week. Replace them if acceptable limits are exceeded
8. Make sure the windows are clean and functional
You need to check it out that all the windows, mirrors and lights are clean and not broken. Replace broken lights or mirrors as soon as possible. Place small windshield cracks by a windshield repair center to determine if the windshield can be repaired or needs to be replaced. Check regularly for cracks and damage

The other animal in the car is the fluid in the drive train. Coolant, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, brake fluid and other fluids need to be tested at least once a week. Ask your mechanic to show you how to test these.
